A joint team of the Punjab Police and Raipur police had conducted a raid and nabbed both of them. Jarmal Singh was shot dead during a wedding at a private resort in Amritsar on January 4. The CCTV footage and viral videos of the incident showed two assailants approaching him calmly. One of them fired a bullet in his head at point-blank range. The attackers fled the spot immediately after the shooting. The sarpanch was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Later, a social media post went viral in which foreign-based gangsters, including Doni Bal, Prabh Dasuwal, Afridi Toot, Mohabbat Randhawa, Amar Khabbe and Pawan Shaukeen, took the responsibility for the murder. The post claimed that multiple attempts had been made on the sarpanch earlier, while levelling serious allegations against him. Jarmal had survived three attempts on his life.
